Santa Barbara Spotlight: The Funk Zone

Hey all you Santa Barbara locals and visitors... If you haven't heard of The Funk Zone yet then you're in for a treat! The Funk Zone is an up-and-coming area right on the waterfront of beautiful Santa Barbara just a few minutes walk from State Street downtown. Filled with amazing food, art, wineries and breweries, this must-see spot is the perfect escape from the stress of everyday life. We are excited to call The Funk Zone The Narrative Loft's home! So in honor of this area, we wanted to share a few of our Funk Zone favorites with you...

Our Chief Narration Officer, Michelle says her favorite Funk Zone spot is Lucky Penny. Located at 127 Anacapa St, this restaurant serves wood fire pizza, craft coffee, and beer and wine. Michelle's favorite? The Lucky Margherita with a Frosé (frozen rosé)!

Venue Coordinator, Kat's favorite spot is Seven Bar and Kitchen. Not only does this place serve amazing specialty drinks, they have great food to go with it. Be sure to check out Seven Bar and Kitchen at 224 Helena Ave.

Lama Dog is Alisa's favorite Funk Zone spot. Known for always having 20 craft beers and 4 wines on tap, this fun tap room and bottle shop is definitely one of the most popular in The Funk Zone. And there is food too! Our suggestion? The lobster mac and cheese. Be sure to check out Lama Dog at 120 Santa Barbara Street.

Social Media Intern, Ross' favorite restaurant is Loquita. Located at 202 State Street, this delicious restaurant highlights Spanish cuisine. Ross recommends the Brocili, Croquetas de Pollo, and Verduras Paella.

Municipal Winemakers is Tai's favorite Funk Zone tasting room. The space's eclectic design and great wine perfectly fit The Funk Zone vibe. The rosé here is amazing and the "WINE" mugs are adorable. Check out Municipal Winemakers at 22 Anacapa Street.
